What Is Lash Lifting?

Lash lifting is essentially a “perm” for your eyelashes. An excellent alternative to lash extensions, lash lifting is more cost efficient, lower maintenance, and more gentle on your lashes. Treatment instantly gives the natural lashes lift, separation, and extra definition without the use of extensions or any harsh chemicals. A lash lift utilizes your own natural lashes to give a dramatic curl, instantly opening the eye and giving a more youthful appearance to the face.

Who can benefit from a lash lift?

Anyone with eyelashes who is interested cutting down make-up application time by eliminating the need for mascara can benefit from a lash lift. Many women have plenty of their own lashes, but the lashes lay straight rather than curling up and out. Others have shorter lashes that only appear visible while wearing mascara. Although those with longer, more full lashes typically see a more dramatic result, lifting will make all types of lashes appear longer.

How is lash lifting performed?

This treatment involves the use of a silicone “shield” or “rod” which is glued into place onto each eyelid. The lashes are then curled around the shield into position with a gentle gel adhesive. First, a perming solution is applied to break down the hydrogen bonds of the hair. This allows them to be easily manipulated into their new shape. Setting solution is applied next to re-form the hydrogen bonds of the hair while in the “curled” position. The lashes are then tinted a color of the client’s choice, before being removed from the shields with a nourishing oil. The whole process takes about one hour from start to finish.

Can I still use lash-enhancing products?

Yes! Because they are your own lashes, you can still use mascara and lash serums. The first 24 hours after your lift, you will need to avoid getting the lashes wet. This allows them to fully set. Once the lashes fully set, you can get back to your life without any discomfort or restrictions.

How long does lash lifting last?

Results last six to eight weeks, consistent with the natural growth cycle of the eyelashes. As new lashes start to replace the previously “curled” ones, the process is gradual and more natural-looking than lashes with extensions needing a fill.
