Women’s Health Night

This year, the Illinois Heart & Lung Foundation is celebrating the 20th anniversary for its flagship program, Women’s Health Night, on Tuesday April 24th at the Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center. Since the inception of their health exposition, the foundation has gone on to launch its Operation Revive program, which provides Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to the community, and its Attack Asthma Camp to educate underserved youth suffering from asthma, but continues to offer their free heath event to improve the health of McLean County and surrounding residents.

As Women’s Health Night has grown to 1,800 attendees and over 80 booths, the event has hosted a variety of keynote speakers, such as Kathrine Switzer and Jackie-Joyner Kersee. To commemorate 20 years of health education, partnering with both Advocate BroMenn and OSF St. Joseph Medical Centers, providing health screenings and community information, they are expanding the event to include families and children.

The Illinois Heart & Lung Foundation believes family health is essential; therefore, 2018’s event is a family health expo for health education, screenings for all family members, information about fun community events, health programs, and games, prizes, and giveaways for attendees.

This year, everyone in the community is invited to participate in our numerous health screenings. You can stay informed by speaking directly with health professionals. There will be full fitness classes offered in the small gym for a variety of ages and abilities; a RAD kids min-session hosted by the YWCA; a Kids Zone with games, information, and programs geared toward area youth; and heart and respiratory screening information specifically for youth athletes.

The event will have fun, education, and numerous prizes and giveaways to celebrate 20 years of taking time for your health. Prizes for kids include jump ropes, balls, bubbles, headphones, passes to the zoo, an hour at Altitude Trampoline Park, gift cards to restaurants, passes to the Children’s Museum, and much more.

Adults have the chance to win gift baskets from Fox-n-Hounds, Refine 309, Fabulous Affairs, Beyond Normal, and the Garlic Press. They can also enter a drawing for gift cards to DESTIHL, Baxter’s, and Medici, headphones, cook books, and shoes from Fleet Feet.

Our three grand prize giveaways will be an Apple Watch Series 2, an adult bike from Bloomington Cycle and Fitness with helmet, and a child’s bike from Bloomington Cycle and Fitness with a helmet.

Don’t miss the 20th Women’s Health Night at the Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center on April 24th from 3:00 — 7:00pm.
